COMPETITION RESULTS
2023
At the end of May we attended "Dog Bowl" in Frankenmuth, Michigan where we competed under 3 different disc organizations (over 3 days). The dogs earned many placements and several qualifying scores, grabbing spots at the World Championships this coming fall with all 3 dogs! Thanks to #discdogsofmichigan for running such an efficient and enjoyable event. Also a HUGE thanks to our sponsors, Hero Disc USA, Rayne Clinical Nutrition Canada and Antinol for Dogs Canada for keeping the dogs happy and healthy.

This year we attended several dog sport competitions and had lots of fun with our gang! Here are some photos with the swag they earned!
September 2020
Despite Covid cancelling many of our competitions, we were able to compete in a few recently and came out with great results!
September 13: Vector had a great weekend, earning 3, 2nd place awards in Open (freestyle), time trial and another freestyle event. The Open placement also earned him a Q for the 2021 Skyhoundz World Championships (hopefully happening in Fall 2021).
September 19: We attended the K9 Frisbee Toss & Fetch League World Championships in Alliston. Vector and Jovi placed 1st and 2nd in the expert division and Vector placed 45th, out of 1442 other teams worldwide! After this event we competed in a Skyhoundz Disc-Dog-A-Thon qualifier. Although no q's, Vector placed 3rd in the Bullseye event.
September 20: We competed in the UpDog Triple Crown Challenge, which was another event happening simultaneously at many locations all over North America. Vector got a 1st in Throw & Go and Jovi got a 1st in Greedy (first time ever playing that event!) and 3rd in Time Warp. In the afternoon we competed in the Skyhoundz Long Distance qualifier. Rick qualified with both Jovi and a friend's dog in that event!

We have been busy keeping the dogs in shape over the winter months and look forward to the 2020 competition season! House league starts this Sunday and we look forward to playing with the dogs in an indoor arena.

More success on the disc competition field in Michigan! We attended a Skyhoundz Classic Qualifier and despite the muddy conditions Angela placed 2nd in Open Freestyle with Vector and 1st in Micro Sport with Ticket and 2nd in Micro Open Freestyle. Rick placed 2nd with Ticket in Micro Sport and 2nd with Jovi in Sport. These placements resulted in qualifying for the World Championships this September in Chattanooga!

This past weekend we traveled to Florida to compete in both an AWI and USDDN qualifier. Angela & Vector had a very successful weekend, qualifying in all events entered and placing 1st in both Freestyle and Cash & Catch at the AWI event on Sunday!

In between judging the freestyle event and Rick & Riff won the Cash & Catch event (winning $130!) and Angela & Vector placed 3rd, both earning an invitation to the AWI World Championships in Naperville, Illinois this fall!

Our 2017 outdoor competition season has officially begun! We attended the AWI World Disc Qualifier in Milton on Saturday, May 6, under very wet and muddy conditions! Vector and Angela placed 4th in Freestyle and Rick and Riff placed 5th in Toss & Catch, both earning qualifying spots for the World Championships to be held in Naperville later this year.

Now that the main competition season come to an end, we like to focus on training and conditioning over the winter months. This involves teaching new moves and lots of hikes and play time! But we also have had the chance to attend Sunday Disc League hosted by Simcoe Dog Sports, north of Barrie. We are having a great time there and both Gypsy and Hiccup have been consistent and placing in the Toss & Fetch class this month!

We did it again! This time Angela qualified with Vector in Expert Sport (placing 1st!) and Hiccup in Microdog Open (2nd) at the Skyhoundz Qualifier in Sharon on Sunday. Hiccup is now coming to the World Championships along with Deviant, Vector, Riff and Brew!

We attended a Skyhoundz Canadian Qualifier in Sharon, Ontario on a scorching hot day! Dogs played well and came home with a 1st place in Open Freestyle with Brew & Angela and 3rd place with Deviant & Rick. We are now qualified with several dogs for the World Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee this coming September.

This past weekend we travelled to Calgary for the Canadian AWI World Qualifier to both compete and Rick was the Head Judge for the weekend events. Angela qualified with both Vector & Brew, placing 1st and 2nd! They are now qualified for the AWI World Championships in Kansas City, Missouri the first weekend in October.

Our 2016 competition season has officially begun! Simcoe Dogsports Disc House league started this past Wednesday with Deviant taking 1st in freestyle and Brew 4th. Vector also placed 4th in Toss & Fetch. We are heading to DogBowl in Frankenmuth, Michigan this weekend to both judge a Skyhoundz US World Qualiifier (Saturday) as well as compete in the AWI World Qualifier.

We have had a very busy and successful month of September with our dogs on the competition field. We travelled to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the Skyhoundz World Disc Championships on September 26 (thanks to Shirley, Susan and Virginia for looking after the kennel while we were away). Despite the rainy and very muddy conditions, several of our dogs ended up in top 10 placements and fun was had by all!

We competed in another Canadian Skyhoundz World Championships Qualifier in Cookstown Ontario and 4 of our dogs qualified for the World Championships later this year. Brew 1st in Sport Expert, Gypsy 2nd in Micro divison, Riff 1st in Pairs D/A and Vector qualified in Open division.

We travelled to Ottawa to compete at the USDDN World Qualifier. It was a wet and windy weekend, but we managed to qualify with Brew, Riff and Vector for the World Championships that will be held in Georgia in October. Thanks to Shirley and Virginia for looking after the kennel while we were away.

We attended Wednesday Night Disc League, hosted by Simcoe Dogsports in Cookstown. A nice breeze made the furthest throws even further, but made freestyle a bit of a challenge! Despite the wind, Rick and Deviant placed 1st in freestyle, and Angela and Brew placed 2nd. We both placed 1st in furthest catch with Riff & Vector, and taking home some cash with catches over 215 ft (Rick) and 175 ft (Angela)!

We attended the Flying Furballs Disc Trial in London on a very rainy, windy and cool day! Many tents came down with the wind, but ours stayed up and the dogs loved the weather and had a great time. Rick placed both 1st and 2nd in furthest catch with Riff and Vector and Angela placed 2nd with Brew. In freestyle, Rick/Deviant placed 1st and Angela/Brew placed 2nd.

Brew & Angela took home 5th place in Open Freestyle and just narrowly missing a qualifying spot based on a tie-breaker! Great start to the outdoor competition season. After several months of training and trying to keep the dogs in shape over the long and cold winter, the competition season is starting again! We attended the HFC disc competition in Ancaster. Riff and Dev brought home the awards with Rick, placing in Pro T&F, Pro Freestyle and Longest Catch! Riff caught the disc at the wall with only a few feet to spare! Congrats to all!

Our dogs had a great time at the HFC Winter Warm-Up Disc competition and came home with lots of goodies. Riff, Brew, Deviant and Rugby all made the top 3 in several classes including Pro T&F, Advanced Freestyle, Furthest Catch and Pairs T&F!

We attended the Flying Furballs Fun Disc trial in London with 7 of our dogs. Rick cleaned up in all the events he played in, placing 1st-3rd in Toss & Fetch with Riff, Vector and Deviant and threw a whopping 223 feet catch for Riff in Furthest Catch! Thanks to Kathy and Luke for putting on such a fun event! Can't wait for the next one.

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Both Rick and Angela competed in World Qualifier events, but in different countries this past weekend! Angela travelled to Columbus, Ohio to both judge a Skyhoundz World Qualifier and compete in an AWI World Qualifier. She placed 2nd with Brew to earn a qualifying spot for the World Championships in Naperville, Illinois in September. Rick was in Cookstown, Ontario for a Skyhoundz World Qualifier and earned several qualifying spots with Riff in Open Freestyle and Sport D/A, as well as some distance titles. We was also awarded the Tango Memorial Award with Deviant for the highest freestyle score of the day. Thanks to Susan and Virginia for looking after the kennel while we got to play with our dogs.

Rick travelled to Peninsula, Ohio for the Ohio Disc Dogs 2014 Winter Championships. After a blizzardy day, Rick & Riff finished out as the Overall Tournament Champions, as well as taking 1st place in both the USDDN and Skyhoundz rounds. He came home with am armful of trophies and prizes!

We had a great time at the Skyhoundz World Frisbee Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Rick and Deviant were the stars coming home with a 1st place in Freestyle in the Disc-Dog-A-Thon and then placing 7th in the World in Open Freestyle as well. Rick competed at the CDDA National Championships with Riff and came home as the Single Disc National Champion and the Men's Furthest catch National Champion. We travelled to Lake Orion, Michigan for the 2013 Stetson Cup Disc Dog Competition with our pack. Rick and Riff carried our pack once again, placing 1st in Pro Toss & Fetch and 3rd in Pro Freestyle, as well as taking home the Stetson Cup for the 2nd year in a row (highest Tos & Fetch score). We also celebrated Rick's 45th birthday with a doggie cake and beverages!

Rick did very well with both of his dogs, placing 1st in both Pro Toss & Fetch and Pro Freestyle, as well as 2nd in Pro Freestyle with Riff and Deviant. Both Rally and Gypsy placed in the top 10 in Pro Freestyle. Hiccup made his debut, competing in Pro Toss & Fetch and actually had a catch! We attended a local competition in Rockwood, playing with 7 out of 8 of our dogs... was quite a busy day! After a fun day and some tired pups, we came home with several ribbons and prizes, placing tops in Advanced Toss&Fetch, Freestyle, Pairs Toss&Fetch and Target Class. Rick & Riff travelled to Truro, Nova Scotia to compete in the Maritime Disc Dog Cup. They brought home more ribbons than the suitcase could hold, as well as the Maritime Disc Dog Cup and special High in Trial trophy! Congrats to Rick & Riff!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
We competed in a CDDA competition in Barrie and the dogs came home with lots of goodies! Rick & Riff JUST missed breaking the CDDA distance record, throwing over 234 ft! Angela earned a Silver award (catch over 150 ft) with both Rally and Brew. Rally played great both days and you wouldn't know he was sick. Gypsy debuted in competition and did very well. Both Deviant and Truman also played and had fun. Thanks to Simcoe Dog Sports for putting on a great competition.

We had a great time in Chattanooga, Tennessee at the Skyhoundz World Disc Dog Championships! RiffRaff, Brew and Deviant all qualified for the finals and Rally even qualified in the Youth Freestyle division with his 6-year-old handler Mackenzie! Thanks to Virginia, Shirley and Susan for looking after the kennel while we were away.

Thanks to Virginia, Shirley, Susan and Jen we have been able to get away from the kennel for short trips to Ohio, Indiana and MIssouri. **RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Rick & Angela travelled to Kokomo, Indiana to compete in both the Quadruped distance competition, as well as a UFO Local Event. On Saturday, Angela & Rally placed 2nd in the Women's Open division in the Quadruped and Rick & Riff placed 4th in the Men's Open division. On Sunday, Rick & Riff placed 2nd in the Pro Toss & Fetch event against over 50 other teams and Angela made the top 10 in Pro Freestyle with both Rally and Brew. Thanks to Susan for looking after the kennel and our dogs that we left at home to keep her company.

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
We made a day trip with all the dogs to Lake Orion, Michigan for the 3rd Annual Stetson Cup Disc Competition, organized by the Michigan Disc Dog Club. It was a great day (slightly damp), and we brought home some hardware once again! Rally & Angela took 1st place in Pro Freestyle and Rick & Riff placed 1st in Pro Toss & Fetch, earning him the honourary Stetson Cup!!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
This past weekend we flew to Orlando, Florida with our dogs to compete in the Central Florida Disc Challenge, AWI Qualifier and the Quadruped Distance Competition. Despite the "cool" temperatures (mitts and longjohns were a hot commodity) and "breezy" conditions (~7 tents were destroyed in 20-30 mph winds), we had a great time and placed well in a field of many top world champions.
On Saturday, both Riff (with Rick) and Brew (with Angela) made the cut to both the AWI Freestyle and Toss & Catch finals! In the end, Brew placed 9th and Riff placed 15th in freestyle against 57 other competitors.
On Sunday, we decided to both play with Riff in the Quadruped... Riff is our more accurate catcher and the cool conditions allowed her to stay fresh and ready to play! Once again, both teams made it to the finals with Angela & Riff placing 3rd in the Women's Open Division and Rick & Riff placing 2nd in the Men's Open Division. Second place in the Men's Open was a GREAT achievement, considering that the 1st place team also broke the World Record that day!

Rick & Angela travelled to Lapeer, Michigan with all 7 dogs to compete in the 2nd Annual Frost Bite Fling disc dog competition. Rally and Riff came home with the hardware, with a 1st and 2nd place in Freestyle as well as Toss & Fetch. It was a great day and the weather was great for travelling.

Rick travelled down to Waterford, Ontario to compete in the Howl-O-ween Disc Dog Trial. All the dogs did well and both Riff and Brew came home with several 1st and 2nd place finishes in practically every event they entered!

We have had a busy and action-packed September/October that we are just catching up on now! Our dogs competed in 2 different world disc dog championships... Skyhoundz World Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee and the AWI Disc Dog Championships in Gray Summit, Missouri. Although no trophies this time, we had some great rounds with all the dogs and made many new friendships along the way! We look forward to training over the winter season to get ready for 2012!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Angela, Gander, Brew and Rally attended the "Party with the Big Dogs- Super Series" in Alliston for a great day of competitions that included weight-pulling, dock diving and disc. In Gander's 2nd ever weight pull competition, she successfully pulled 670 lbs, earning her a 2nd place ribbon! Brew also made his debut on the dock and got a 1st place in the Junior division and had a personal best of a 18 ft jump! Rally made a few jumps as well and had fun hanging out for the day.

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Angela & Rally competed at the 2011 National Agility Regionals in Oro this past weekend. This competition brings together the best agility dogs from all over Canada. Once again, Rally exceeded Angela's expectations, placing 6th in his height class (out of 41 dogs), as well as earning 2, 2nd place ribbons and a 5th place ribbon in individual classes!

Rick & Angela competed at the Skyhoundz Eastern Canadian Regional Qualifier this past weekend in Brantford, Ontario. All the dogs performed very well in the heat and Riff placed 3rd in Open Freestyle and 4th in Distance/Accuracy with Rick. Rally placed 2nd in both Open Freestyle and Distance/Accuracy, as well they placed 1st in Pairs Freestyle with Rally. Brew also did well, placing 4th in Open Freestyle with Angela. The top 3 placements earn an invitation to the Skyhoundz World Championships this September in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Thanks to Caroline & Jim from Canidae as well as Rick's family for coming out and supporting and cheering us all the way!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
This past weekend we travelled to Gray Summit, Missouri for both an AWI World Qualifier and Quadruped Distance event, while Virginia, and Rick's parent looked after the kennel for us.
The AWI was on Saturday and the top 5 placements earned an invitation to the AWI World Championships in October at the same location. Angela & Rally took 1st place, but since they already qualified earlier this year in Houston, the q spots moved down to 6th place. Rick & Riff placed 4th and Angela & Brew placed 6th! So all of our dogs will be competing at the AWI World Championships! As well, Angela & Rally placed 2nd in the Toss & Catch event, just missing out on a cash prize.
We also had a great day on Sunday at the Quadruped distance event. All 3 of our dogs made it to the finals (Brew was lent out to a lady from California) and we ended up with 2nd in Women's division with Brew (handled by Stacey), 3rd in Women's Open division with Angela & Rally and 4th in Men's Open division with Rick & Riff.
Once again we came back over the border with some precious and well-deserved hardware... and the dogs played VERY well in extreme temperatures!

Rick & Gander competed in a weight pulling competition this past weekend at the "Party with the Big Dogs" - Super Series in Brantford, Ontario. In her first ever competition, Gander won her weight class with a 400-lb pull and she didn't even break a sweat! ;-) Congrats to Rick & Gander!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Rick travelled to Owosso, Michigan to compete at the Curwood Festival State Championships with both his dogs Riff and Brew. Rick & Riff came home as the Overall Michigan State Champions and Rick & Brew were right behind, placing 2nd! As well, Riff took 1st in the freestyle event and Brew took 3rd in the Distance & Accuracy event. CONGRATS!!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Angela & Rally competed at the 2011 Ontario Agility Regionals in Oro this past weekend. Rally exceeded Angela's expectations, with not only qualifiying for the Canadian Agility Nationals later this summer, but also overall placing 7th in his height class (out of 47 dogs), as well as making the finals in the Steeplechase class!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Rick & Angela travelled to Kokomo, Indiana to compete in both the Quadruped distance competition, as well as a UFO Local Event. On Saturday, Angela & Rally placed 2nd in the Women's Open division in the Quadruped with a longest catch of 56.5 yards and Rick & Riff placed 6th in the Men's Open division with a longest catch of 70.5 yards. On Sunday, Angela & Rally placed 1st in Open Freestyle and Rick & Riff placed 1st in the Toss & Fetch event against 50 other teams from all over the United States. As well, Rick & Riff placed 2nd overall and Angela & Brew placed 3rd overall. Thanks to Shirley for looking after the kennel and our dogs that we left at home to keep her company.

RiffRaff (handled by Rick) earned her Starter Agility Dog of Canada title at Rat Pack Agility competition in Orangeville. Rally (handled by Angela) had some nice runs and Truman, Gander and Brew also played and had fun!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Rick & Angela travelled to Houston, Texas with the van packed full of 6 dogs and gear to compete at the AWI Qualifier. Angela & Rally placed 2nd in Freestyle and Rick & RiffRaff placed 1st in a toss&fetch class of 65 other teams from all over the United States. As well, Rick & RiffRaff placed 6th in the Freestyle event and Angela & Brew placed 13th. Rally's 2nd place finish in the AWI Qualifier earned them a spot at the AWI World Finals in October in Gray Summit, Missouri.

Today was Rick & RiffRaff's day to shine in agility! Riff Q'd (with 1st place) in Starter Jumpers and Starter Standard courses, as well as earning a special award for the "Most Improved Team" in the 2 Starter Standard courses! Each time they get out on the agility field, their confidence grows and they work well as a team. Gander (our Newfie) also earned her 1st Q in Starter Jumpers as well. No pics or videos this time, as we were too busy running our 5 dogs... hopefully next time!

Rally and Truman had a great night at an agility competition at Royackers in Ariss. Between the 2 dogs entered in 5 classes, we came home with 5, 1st place ribbons and 5 qualifying ribbons! Check out some of the action on our video page.

We attended another agility competition in Orangeville with all the of the dogs. Everyone had fun and Truman was the star of the day, earning his Agility Dog of Canada (ADC) title! Yeah Truman!

After competing in disc dog all summer, it was time to change gears and get back into our 2nd favorite dogsport, AGILITY! We took the gang to an agility competition just north of Guelph and had a great time! Rick & RiffRaff played well for only their 3rd competition ever. Rick is gaining the experience and confidence needed to make a great agility handler, with Riff waiting patiently at his side. Truman is starting to really enjoy the game, but never much as he enjoys his birds! ;-) Gander and Brew debuted on the competition field and showed great promise for the future. Rally was as solid as ever, flying through the courses with ease.

Rick & RiffRaff travelled down to Cartersville, Georgia to compete in the USDDN International Championships. Competing against teams from all over the world, they placed 4th in the SuperPro division! Congrats to Rick & Riff! This was the last major competition that we are attending this year... now it's time for a break and some extra hikes in the woods and cuddle time. ;-)

Congrats to Angela & Rally who took 4th place at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge "Flying Freestyle Disc" event in Gray Summit, Missouri. This was an INTERNATIONAL event with competitors from Japan, Poland and the United States.

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Congrats to Rick & RiffRaff for bringing home a trophy for 3rd place in the Sport Distance/Accuracy Division at the 2010 Skyhoundz World Disc Dog Championships! This team was on fire and also placed 8th in the Open Freestyle Division. As well, the team of Rally, Angela & Rick placed a respectable 7th in the Pairs Freestyle Division against some tough competition. Thanks to Virginia and Lindsay for looking after the kennel while we were away.

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Thanks to Virginia and Lindsay for looking after the kennel, we were able to travel to Naperville, Illinois for the UFO Major and Ashley Whippet Invitational Disc Dog Championships. At the UFO Major, Rick & RiffRaff placed a respectable 11th in Freestyle (in a class of over 70 other teams), and 4th in Toss & Catch (against 90 other competitors). As well, Angela & Brew finished 28th in Freestyle at their first major competition. At the AWI Championships, Angela & Rally placed 6th in a group of over 30 top-notch teams from all across North America.

Rick & RiffRaff travelled to Ottawa, Ontario to compete in the USDDN Canadian Qualifer and came home with 1st place in both Super Open Freestyle and Super Pro divisions. This earns them an invitation to the USDDN Internationals Finals in Cartersville, Georgia in October.

Thanks to a great effort by our dogs, we are on our way to Chattanooga, Tennessee in September for the Skyhoundz World Disc Dog Championships!
Rick took both 1st & 2nd with RiffRaff and Brew in the D/A division (competing against 50 other teams), while Angela placed both 1st & 2nd with Brew and Rally in the Freestyle division. As well, we placed 1st in the Pairs Freestyle division with Rally (reigning world champion). Only the top 3 placings get invited to the world championships. And to top it off, Rally took home the "Tango Memorial Award" for the top scores in freestyle that day!

Rick & Angela travelled to Gray Summit, Missouri with the truck packed full of dogs and gear to compete at the "HOT JAM" AWI Qualifier... man was it HOT!! But the heat didn't bother the dogs... Angela & Rally placed 2nd and Rick & RiffRaff placed 3rd in a toss&fetch class of almost 100 other teams from all over the United States. As well, Rick & RiffRaff placed 4th in the Freestyle event in the AWI Qualifier which earned them a spot at the AWI World Finals in September in Chicago.

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Rick & RiffRaff travelled to Denver, COLORADO for a weekend of disc dog competitions. On Saturday, they competed in the Skyhoundz Western Open Qualifier and took 3rd place in the Open Freestyle Division, which earns them a spot at the World Championships this coming September in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They had an even better day on Sunday, by placing 1st in BOTH the Freestyle and Distance/Accuracy events in the AWI Qualifier which earned them a spot at the AWI World Finals in September in Chicago. Congrats to Rick & RiffRaff!

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Rick & Angela travelled to Orlando, FLORIDA with Rally & RiffRaff for the Central Florida Disc Dog Challenge and The QUADRUPED (long distance disc throwing). Rick & RiffRaff placed 1st in the Advanced Toss & Fetch and Angela & Rally placed 3rd, as well as 3rd in the AWI Qualifier which earned them a spot at the AWI World Finals in September in Chicago. On sunday, Angela & RiffRaff captured 1st place in the Women's Open Division with a top catch at 56 yards, and puts them in the lead for the Quadruped series.
Special thanks goes out to Virginia and Lindsey for holding down the fort while we were away and caring for the boarding dogs as well as our own.

**RESULTS ARE IN!!**
Rick & Angela travelled to Whistler, BC for the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge and competed in Freestyle Flying Disc with Rally & Riff Raff.
Rally & Angela took 1st place which earned them a spot at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Nationals to be held at Gray Summit, Missouri this coming October. Competitors from California, Washington, Colorado, British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario came to Whistler for this event. As well, Rick & Riff Raff finished in a very respectable 5th place at their first Purina event.
We would like to think Virginia and Shirley who ran the kennel while we were away, cared for both our dogs and the kennel dogs and did a great job of it! You made this trip possible for us and we are grateful to you.
